About Me

Gena W.I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania just outside of Pittsburgh. My child hood was pretty normal or as normal as everyone else’s in my town. During my years of growing up I had a lot to keep me busy. I took ballet, tap and gymnastics. I even played Baseball for a few years. On Sundays I attended Jerusalem Baptist Church with my Mom. A small church down the street from my home. I tell people I grew up in church, because that’s where I spent a majority of my time and being an only child, it gave me plenty of church brothers and sisters. Church also kept me very busy. I was in the Youth Choir, on the Youth Usher Board and I participated in just about every youth activity the church had to offer. It was truly an extension of my home. In my later years of school I learned to play the clarinet and became a member of the school band, I also was on the cheerleading squad and believe it or not I held down two part time jobs. Looking back I often wonder how I found the time and energy to be apart of so much. While I may not know where the time and energy came from. I do know that 110% of the support came from my Mom.
One day while at work a close friend invited me to her church. It took only one Sunday, One service and I know I found a new church home. The Pastor spoke in a way that any young person could relate to. His words where so full of passion and truth, that you became consumed in his spiritual energy. At the time the church was just a name Higher Call Church and the congregation was small about a room full, but it was the beginning of something so wonderful. Everyone treated me so kind and made me feel so welcomed. Not to long after that I made the decision to be a full member of the church. This was the same year I graduated High School. By the end of the summer I was enrolled in a business collage and studying hard for good grades and I studied just as hard two nights a week for Bible Study Classes. The Business College I completed, but my bible studies are always on going. Now! Gena and the kids
Some thirteen years later I am a married mother of two Anthony and Aubrieanne, who takes care of her home and runs her own business and still attend the same church after thirteen years.
The church has since changed it’s name to Higher Call World Outreach Church and has grown to about two hundred or so members and
has now become an extension of my family’s home.
